JEWELS LISTEN TO

THE GOLDSMITH ARTISTS MARIA CRISTINA and GERHARD ARE THE FOUNDERS OF UDIRELEFORME.

AFTER LEARNING THE BASIcS IN AREZZO AND FLORENCE, IN 1997 THEY LAID THE FOUNDATIONS OF A FRUITFUL COOPERATION IN VENICE.

THEIR LOVE FOR THE SEA NOT ONLY INSPIRED THEIR FIRST WORKS BUT ALSO THE CHOICE OF THE NAME OF THEIR PROJECT UDIRELEFORME (LISTEN TO THE FORMS). MODELLED BY THE WHISPERS OF THE SEA, THE WAVES TAKE SHAPE IN the DARKNESS.

BOLOGNA WAS THEIR NEXT STEP. THEY DEVELOPED THEIR DESIGN AND TECHNIQUES THROUgH THE COLLABORATION WITH SEVERAL TREND MARKS FOR THE PRODUCTION OF LIMITED EDITIONS, PROTOTYPES AND BEAUTIFUL UNIQUE JEWELS USING selected precious gems AND ANTIQUE ELEMENTS.

TODAY THEY LIVE IN LUGANO AND CREATE THEIR OWN INDIVIDUAL JEWELLERY IN THEIR STUDIO, LOOKING AT THE MOUNTAINS AND FEELING THE SEA IN THEIR HEARTS.

LOVE FOR ANCIENT TECHNIQUES

Repoussé is one of the most ancient techniques of goldsmith's decoration, whereby the design is raised above a metal sheet laid on a bed of pitch. The relief is obtained by hammering the design alternatively from the right and reverse side of the sheet with chisels and mallet.
When the repoussé work is completed, the sheet is removed from the pitch, cleaned and finished on the right side by chisel work to mark PROFILES and add small details.

poetry hidden in everyday life

If Battiato said,

‘I am looking for a permanent centre of gravity,’ Maria Cristina has always enjoyed searching for a non-permanent centre of gravity! :)

Perhaps because one of the paths to happiness is the search for balance in constant and natural change.

Udireleforme jewellery features thoughtful, conversational and attentive designs.

They reflect the world of Maria Cristina and Gerhard, who live by seeking and immersing themselves in the poetry of everyday life.

In fact, in creating their jewellery, they open themselves up to what each material used, each individual stone and each aesthetic sensation has to say. They allow themselves to be carried away by this harmonious dialogue between people, thoughts, nature, technique and experimentation, to make jewellery a gentle search for belonging.
